Perito Moreno Glacier

An unmissable experience

The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the great icons of Argentine Patagonia and one of the country's most visited natural wonders. Covering more than 250 km² and with a front that rises more than 70 meters above water level, this glacier is famous for its dynamic behavior: unlike most glaciers, it does not retreat, but maintains a balance between advancing and breaking up.

The glacier was named after the Argentine explorer Francisco Pascasio Moreno, a key figure in the region's history and the creation of protected natural areas. From the walkways of Los Glaciares National Park, visitors can observe the impressive ice front advancing over the Brazo Rico (Rico Branch) of Lake Argentino and hear the roar of enormous blocks of ice falling into the water.

The color of the ice, with shades ranging from brilliant white to deep blue, changes depending on the light and time of day, offering an unparalleled visual spectacle. Various excursions are also available: the classic Iceberg Channel cruise, the Mini Glacier Trek, or the Big Ice Trek, a longer journey that takes you deep into the heart of the ice.

Visiting Perito Moreno is an experience that awakens all the senses: sight, hearing, and the emotion of being in front of one of the most majestic landscapes in the world.

Every year, thousands of visitors come from all over the world to witness its most amazing phenomenon: the glacier calving, a unique natural event where water pressure overcomes the ice wall, generating an explosion of sound, foam, and excitement. It's a spectacle that symbolizes the living force of nature and the magic that defines southern Argentina.
